Freight and Miscellaneous Fees
Freight charges are based on the number and type of items selected as well as the shipping address provided at Check Out. Freight is calculated per shipment at the time of shipment and will be added to the invoice. Unless otherwise noted all shipments are FOB Origin.
- Duties/Taxes: Unless otherwise indicated, duties and taxes are the responsibility of the recipient and due at time of custom’s clearance.
- Hazardous Material Charges: A hazardous material charge will be added to the order in addition to normal shipping charges for applicable products, including viscosity standards and flash point reference materials with low flash points.
- Inspections Fees: If inspection is required by an outside inspection firm (designated by the purchaser) additional fees will apply. All expenses incurred by the inspection firm will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
- Legalization: If the receiving country requires legalization of a shipment/document, additional fees will apply.
Shipment Claims
It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect all shipments upon receipt and report any problems or errors to Cannon within 2 weeks. If goods are broken or damaged in transit, we will adjust the claim regardless of who is at fault, however we ask that you report the damage to the carrier.
For domestic U.S. shipment claims:
- If the damage is <$100.00, please notify Customer Service.
- If the damage is >$100.00, retain the original shipping carton and request a carrier inspection within 15 days of delivery. Send your claim along with a copy of the inspection report prepared by the carrier's agent to Customer Service.
For International shipment claims:
- Export shipments are insured against "all risks", including breakage unless otherwise instructed by the customer. Customers who request that we not insure a shipment are solely responsible for any claims.
- Please notify Customer Service for shipments insured by CANNON and we will handle the claim directly.
- For shipments insured by another party adjustment may be made through the local agent of that party's insurance company.
- Ocean shipment is not recommended and may invalidate the warranty on certain products. If shipment of insured items is requested by ocean freight and the items are damaged or lost in transit, adjustments are handled in one of the following ways:
- CANNON places the claim in the U.S.: Contact Customer Service and provide copies of the insurance certificate, the bill of lading and the commercial invoice along with details of the loss as reported to the carrier. For damage >$100.00, a survey report issued by the insurance adjuster must also be provided.
- A local agent for the insurance company handles the adjustment.
Returns and Cancellations
CANCELLATIONS - There is a 30% production fee applied for the cancellation of any order that contains custom configured/manufactured items. The fee will be waived in the event a new PO is received within 120 days of cancellation of the original order.
PRODUCT RETURNS WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. A 25% restocking fee will be applied to returned orders. Effort should be made to identify the source of the problem prior to returning a product to CANNON for repair or service as a testing fee may apply for returned products that are found to be working properly. If the issue cannot be identified, contact Technical Service or your local service agent. If a simple solution or repair cannot be recommended, CANNON will issue a Return Authorization number (RA). You must alert CANNON prior to shipment if the product you are returning contains hazardous materials.
Products must be carefully packed and shipped pre-paid to the following address:
CANNON Instrument Company
ATTN: Return Authorization # __________
2139 High Tech Road
State College, PA 16803 USA
The shipment must contain the following information:
- Return Authorization number (RA).
- Name and telephone number of the customer point of contact for the return.
- A detailed explanation of the reason for the return.
- Shipping and billing instructions for product repair and return.
NOTE: If the repair is not covered by warranty, CANNON will provide a cost estimate. Repair costs must be approved and a purchase order issued before work will be performed.
Products generally not subject to return include:
- Items purchased via a third party
- Customized, modified, dated or mutilated products (including all viscosity and flash point reference materials)
